Hello Brandywine Heights Families,
My name is Michelle Ward and I am excited to begin my third year as the Intermediate/Middle School Assistant Principal. Over the past two years, the best part of my job was getting to know the students and their families. Whether it was walking the halls, visiting classrooms, office conversations, or at extracurricular events, the positive energy our staff and students bring to school each day makes my job fun and meaningful. I am excited about our new initiative this year, BulletPROUD Success Circles, where your child will participate in team building activities, peer discussion about the joys and challenges of being a kid, and lessons that develop self-confidence and strong work habits that reflect our district's BulletPROUD Philosophy. We hope these small group sessions will be a fun, positive way for your child to develop academically, socially and emotionally this school year.
Being in the field of public education for the past 25 years, my goal has always been to develop a positive school environment where students and teachers find joy being a part of. I strongly believe in the philosophy that "Every Person Matters, Every Moment Counts". To achieve a positive school culture, we must encourage an environment of inclusion and helping each other. Feeling valued and supported improves self-confidence, communication, and academic/social development. In addition, having opportunities for students and families to participate in acts of community service is a way to teach kindness and empathy, inspire a sense of citizenship, and help students discover future career paths. And most importantly, a student's educational experience should be filled with special days and special memories that fill our hearts with joy and make us smile. I will dedicate myself to promote this philosophy as a BulletPROUD member of your Brandywine Heights Area family.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the school year. Developing effective communication skills is important for the home and school connection, so together, we can provide the most healthy and safe environment for your children. Encourage your son or daughter to use their voice to communicate with a teacher, staff member, or friend when they need support or advice. It takes a village to raise a child, and here at Brandywine Heights Area Intermediate/Middle School, we will partner together to create a positive school environment for your child to grow and learn. Thank you for your support and let's make the 2024/2025 school year an amazing one!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Michelle Ward
