The mission of the Brandywine Heights Library Media program is to ensure that students and staff are Information literate. Information literate people are effective users of information in a variety of formats (print, non-print, electronic…). The Brandywine Heights Area School District’s library media program is the vehicle that provides opportunities for the students and staff to become information literate. The librarians work at developing full integration of the library media program into the curriculum, establishing a partnership among educators, parents and administrators. The library media program makes a commitment to the library users to provide universal and unrestricted access to information and ideas.
The mission of the Brandywine Heights High School Library Media program is to offer leadership in areas of locating, processing, evaluating, synthesizing and utilization information in a variety of print, non-print and electronic sources. These skills must be integrated across the curriculum to prepare students to become life-long learners of information literacy. This will help the students to become independent, self-motivated learners. To accomplish this purpose the department provides all services necessary to place materials fully cataloged, and ready for circulation, a management system fully designed to facilitate ready storage and retrieval for full utilization by both faculty and students.
